Life's a Beach (Have I used this blog title before?)

We live in Florida, near the beach. Is it getting too predictable what the majority of our pictures are of?
Myah's face is healing up nicely

Picking up seashells. They look like a such scavengers, don't they? Like a couple ravens on a dumpster, or Aunt Amy at a garage sale....
Yes, I'm wearing a polar fleece jacket at the beach. It's pictures like this that are going to lead to my Alaska residency being revoked.

Outrunning the waves. I've never met a kid that didn't do this

Practicing gymnastics at the beach. A nice soft place for the beginning handstander
Myah's hair is getting long and unruly. We didn't have a hair tie so we improvised with a rolled up sock. I think it turned out lovely.
An Aevyn sandcastle. One of my most favorite kinds of sand castle. (sidenote- how much does this little girl look like her daddy?!?!)

Another Gruesome Injury

Myah tried to ride a skateboard- with her face

Ooops. She told me she only cried "3 or 4 little drops." It made me so sad, I had to make her French Toast for dinner.

Aevyn is uninjured. She has been practicing her sweetest face for the camera so here it is:

Poor little top lip took the brunt of the abuse. These pictures fail to capture how swollen it is.
She retains her sense of humor though

Too Gory For Facebook

Because inquiring minds want to know (you sick freaks).
Here is my toe. Or more descriptively, what is left of my toenail.
Simple story: I slipped on a wet bathroom floor and jammed my toe on the floor trim. It hurt, but not as much as you'd expect. I felt blood, looked down, and saw that my toenail had been torn out from it's roots. It's still attached at the tip, but is freestyling it in the rear. Haha, I have a mullet toenail: business in the front, party in the back.

It actually doesn't look too bad after I cleaned it up last night:

Cousin Kylie had painted my toes a couple weeks ago, so you can see where the cuticle line USED to be. Everything behind that line started yesterday beneath the protective coverings of my toe flesh. What you can't see is that the skin along the sides of my nail is pretty torn too. I think that's where all the blood came from.

Like I said, that picture was from last night. It's a bit more bruised and swollen today.

New Chicks On Our Block

We've taken the plunge into backyard egging. No eggs yet (to answer the age old question, it was indeed the chickens that came first).
Put the babies in a Rubbermaid with a heat lamp...reminds me of when I first brought my own babies home. In fact, that might actually be their first Rubbermaid crib. (come on, I'm joking)
4 little chickens. Names: Angel, Esmeralda, Sweetie-Pie, and Zebra
For anyone that cares, thats a golden sex-linked, a black sex-linked, a Rhode Island Red, and a Barred Rock
Oh, it never ceases to be thrilling

A Worst Nightmare

Thanks for the fake nails Santa Claus. Nothing makes me happier than my preschoolers looking like they belong on Jersey Shore
Oh they're Disney Princess nails? Well that's classy then.
Anyone care for a back scratch?

Goes well with the chocolate crumbs on the face
Do they smell?
